Welcome to The Nerlige Foundation(R.), where we believe that the foundation of a thriving society lies in accessible and quality education for all. In India, early and basic education is not just a stepping stone but the cornerstone of a brighter future for our nation. Recognizing this, we passionately contribute to the betterment of education through collaborative efforts with the government and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
NGOs play a pivotal role in addressing educational disparities among the poor. They often bridge gaps by providing financial support, scholarships, and resources to underprivileged students, enabling access to quality education. NGOs also contribute to community awareness, advocate for educational policies, and collaborate with governments to improve infrastructure and curriculum. Through innovative programs and partnerships, these organizations empower marginalized communities, fostering a more inclusive and equitable educational landscape for the economically disadvantaged.
If we need to address healthcare, poverty, population control, unemployment, and human rights, there’s no better way to start than by providing education to children in need. Education not only empowers children to have a secure future but also helps them grow up as responsible national and global citizens. The Right to Education (RTE) Act which came into force in 2010 made education free and compulsory for all children in the age group of 6-14 years. But even a decade later, the learning curve has not been steady for many children in the country. The socio-economic conditions of parents and the lack of proper learning in schools are hindrances that prevent many children from having an education.
*Why Early and Basic Education Matters:*
In a diverse and dynamic country like India, providing early and basic education is essential for shaping well-rounded individuals. It not only imparts knowledge but also instills values, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Early education lays the groundwork for a lifetime of learning and contributes significantly to breaking the cycle of poverty.
*Our Impactful Collaboration:*
At The Nerlige Foundation, we understand the significance of collective action. Collaborating with government initiatives, we strive to reach the grassroots, ensuring that every child has access to quality education. By joining hands with CSR partners, we amplify our impact, fostering a sense of responsibility and shared commitment towards education.

Nerlige Foundation’s flagship programme Mission Education works with the objective of empowering underprivileged children by providing education, nutrition, and wellness support. The programme is well aligned to the New Education Policy (2020), and the SDG Goal 4 (Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all). Mission Education works with children (3-18 years) living in difficult circumstances, children from poor families, differently abled children, disaster-struck children, abandoned and street children, and children living in tribal belts, remote villages and hard to reach areas.
